Applying Gaelic to Social Media | September SHSMG Event

This September, we dive into all things Gaelic as Kiara King from Glasgow University Library and Sally Pentecost from Dig It! share how they have incorporated Gaelic language into social media.

The University of Glasgow has held an annual Gaelic Language Day since 2012 to promote and celebrate Gaelic language and culture. Kiara King will open the event with a brief talk about how the Archives & Special Collections have joined in with Gaelic Language Day and discuss the different approaches taken and partnerships that they’ve developed to explore Gaelic collections.

Sally is a non-Gaelic speaker who has developed Dig It!’s Gaelic Language Policy with the generous support of Gaelic-speaking heritage professionals and advocates. Sally will talk about the importance of recognising Gaelic language in the Scottish heritage sector and including it in your content, which resources she’s found helpful, and what she’s learned so far.
